Why we set this up
We wanted a clinic where the assessment came first and the treatment followed from it, rather than the other way round.
The problem we kept seeing
Between us we'd seen enough patients who had been treated quickly and asked very little. People who had been given what they requested rather than what would have helped, and who came away looking treated rather than better.
Usually nothing had gone wrong in the technical sense. The decision had gone wrong, earlier, in a consultation that was too short.
So the clinic is built around that appointment instead. Longer, more questions, and a real option to do nothing.
How we look at a face
We look at the whole face, not just the area you've come in about. Faces work as a set of relationships, and the thing that bothers you is often being caused somewhere else. Chins are the usual example. People arrive certain that the problem is their jawline.
We look at proportion, at how tissue sits, and at movement. Then we look at photographs, because faces are hard to hold in your head accurately.
Facial ultrasound may be used where clinically appropriate to support anatomical assessment or treatment planning.
None of this is a proprietary system. It's ordinary clinical method, applied to something that is too often sold rather than assessed.
Photographs and records
With your consent, we photograph the areas we're assessing under consistent conditions. It's the only reliable way to compare before and after, and it protects you as much as us. Nobody remembers their own face accurately from six weeks ago.
What we don't do
We don't work from a treatment menu, and we won't add areas to a plan because you're already in the chair.
We don't promise results. Bodies vary, and anyone offering you a guarantee is telling you something about themselves.
Where we work
Our main clinic is at Carewise Pharmacy, 10–14 Polwarth Gardens, Edinburgh, EH11 1LW. We also run monthly clinics in Aberdeenshire, Dundee and Glasgow. Dates come from the booking system, and the address comes with your confirmation.
